7:11 am	concept/rationale for piece/show - title: the proverbial dark alley. I have just woken up. Literally. It is 7:15 am, 20.05.2004. I woke up shortly before that to contemplate 2 paintings I had started the week before. They represent nothing, really. Nothing I could really imagine, anyway, other than that they are the visions of a backwards aesthete. Scrawled in a malt liquor-induced zeal on two raw wooden panels with an assortment of media. The "paintings" are a mess. The great realization is that they need to be spilled in an even greater quantity. I love them and hate them simultaneously, like most things in my life. I strive to be able to accomplish their expression differently, in a more polished and cohesive manner and style, but this is the image of my thought process itself. My initial thought is that perhaps forgetting about matters such as style and technique I can rid myself of these repeated themes and failed attempts to emulate my own idols and finally find a cohesive style of my own. Perhaps this is it? Or it's violent, ugly birth. I don't know. I'm not even sure if it has or is a narrative or if i have merely superimposed one upon it for the sake of the viewer. aw fuck it, hey how's about that Nick Berg? he sure knows how to die, eh? 9:25 pm	yay! heh. This is the first tile I've had the pleasure of creating. hopefully i can create enough to tile something. My business partner/friend Chris makes the actual tiles, i just apply images w/glazes. (2 Comments |Comment on this)
